Wyatt Waters Originals

Original Watercolors

Every original begins on location.

Wyatt paints what is in front of him—the light, the weather, the architecture, the people and whatever happens to wander into the scene. Working in watercolor means making decisions quickly, accepting a certain amount of unpredictability and occasionally pretending that an unexpected drip was part of the plan all along.

Each painting is one of a kind and reflects a particular place and moment as Wyatt experienced it. Some subjects are grand. Others are wonderfully ordinary. What matters is that something about the scene made him stop, set up his easel and take a closer look.

Commissioned Paintings

A commissioned watercolor captures more than the appearance of a place. It preserves the light, atmosphere and memories connected to it.

Wyatt accepts a limited number of commissions each year, painting homes, meaningful places, businesses and other subjects entirely on location. He does not paint from photographs. For Wyatt, being present—the changing light, weather, sounds and activity surrounding a place—is an essential part of the finished painting.

Every commission is coordinated by Kristi Waters, who will guide you through the process from the first conversation through framing and completion.

The process begins with a conversation about your subject, timing and what makes the place meaningful. From there, Wyatt will scout the location, recommend the view and conditions that he believes will create the strongest painting, and receive your approval before he begins.
