    That was the first bible verse I learned as a kindergarten aged boy. My Sunday school teacher (mandolinist Hal Jeanes’ mother) gave us all white leatherette Gideon bibles with the New Testament, psalms, and proverbs. I was brought up methodically in the church.

Coming to the Crossroads

 

I’m in the middle of the painting and I am at a crossroads. I know what I should do. It is a risky choice. The painting is moving now and I can’t stay still and do nothing. I have to act. There is doubt in my heart. I never really know. I only believe. I need a broad area of paint. There will be no going back. It might make the painting but my fear worries it could destroy it. I can’t cling too much to certainty. Watercolor goes forward and does not stand still....

It’s been an interesting 10 days. 


This project of painting the southeast has been in my craw for over 30 years. I’m 65. If I don’t do it now, I might not ever do it at all. One definition of the unforgivable sin is knowing what you should do and not doing it. It’s not that God doesn’t forgive but that we don’t forgive ourselves. That’s always the hardest to forgive.

In light of the today's statistics of the Covid-19 virus in Mississippi, we have made the difficult decision to keep the Gallery closed a little longer. We value our patrons health and are making this decision for your safety. We don’t have a date for reopening but will post here when we decide.

The Gallery's New Normal

Starting this Saturday, May 2, the Gallery is easing back into our new normal by opening the Gallery from 10a-2pm. Of course, we will be following proper protocol for all of our safety. We will have hand sanitizer and will be wearing masks - as we expect our guests to do as well. Customers will be limited to two at a time.
